USA Cycling (Mountain Biking)
Blog RSSHello and welcome to my blog. Some of you may be familiar with my personal blog at toddwells.com. I will be doing quite a few updates for this site over the next two months and hopefully can provide you with some entertaining reading. Let's jump right in.
Right now I'm sitting on a plane coming back from the World Mountain Bike Championships in Val di Sole and a GT press camp in Livingo, Italy. It has been a busy season for me so far and it doesn't show any signs of letting up. I have already been to Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Spain, Andorra, Belgium, Germany, Scotland and now Italy this season. I still have Austria, Australia, Canada, China, South Korea and maybe South Africa to go before I put a wrap on another mountain bike season and start cyclocross.
My year has been going well so far, I've had my best ever World Cup, a sixth place in Andorra and many more good results along the way. I have unofficially qualified for the Olympic team and will be heading to Jeju Island off of South Korea for a training camp about ten days before the games. This will be my second Olympics, the first one I was just happy to be there but this time I am hoping to have a special result.
Before I head off to Beijing I have a few important races in the U.S. and Canada to contend in but right now I am in the middle of taking a short break. I haven't been home in over a month and I can't wait to see my wife and dog and friends.
Summer is the best time in my adopted home of Durango, CO. The weather is awesome, the golf course is open and the Animas is perfect for tubing. I haven't been able to take advantage of any of that lately so I'm looking forward to a few days of R and R. I have a big couple of days planned starting out with going to the Dog Park and playing ball with Winston, visiting some of Durango's watering holes and actually getting to talk to Meg in person rather then on Skype. All that will have to wait just a little bit though since I still have six hours left on this flight before I even get to board the "vomit comet" for my roller coaster flight back to Durango.
I wonder if Winston will remember who I am.......
