Back Home

Sunday went a little better as I made the front group straight away. I was in the back of the group when Johnson attacked and couldn't bridge across to him. I didn't want to just race for second so I sat on the front of the chase all day and paid for it at the end getting last in our group sprint for second through forth.
All in all it was a good weekend. It's cool to get to hang out with all the cross guys I don't get to see during the normal mountain bike season. I didn't even get to see too many of the mountain bike guys since I spent all summer racing World Cups all over the world.
I got to spent the week at home in Durango again and it's really hard to stay focused when the weather is so good. I have been playing too much golf and riding my moto too much. After a season spent on the road it's hard not to enjoy myself a little bit at home. That means I'm off to a slow start in cross but hopefully I'll be motivated for my goal of Nationals in December. I'm pretty sure the weather will be crappy by then as well and I'll just be riding, resting and trying to stay warm.
Right now I'm up in Boulder getting ready for the first round of the Boulder Cup. This will be the first race of the season that I will do in my home time zone and one of only two total. It is also the only big race I don't have to get on a plane to get to. I'm hoping this will work in favor since I'm still a little tired from all the fun I've been having this week.
I wonder how long these seventy degree temperatures are going to last......
